NGM Open Innovation is interested to hear from researchers investigating specific pathological processes or novel mechanisms that provide new opportunities for neurodegenerative disease intervention.

Neurodegeneration is the term applied to a range of diseases which result in the progressive loss or function of neurons.  There are many neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and numerous forms of Dementia.  As our understanding of these neurodegenerative diseases increases, it is apparent that there may be common mechanisms underlying the pathological processes.

Key pathways of interest include:

endoplasmic reticulum stress, autophagy, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, synaptic dysfunction and misregulated proteostasis
